Inkie feels commonly comfortable in his ordinary life—until that awful, curious thought. “Oh fright.” Now his mind struggles to not-think the things he is thinking What is beyond the forbidden fence that surrounds my home town? Can he dare to search for the answer? It would be a bogglingly scary task, not the type of thing a healthy-minded Lomen would be interested in, or good at. Still….
Inkie’s journey takes him into the frightful unknown. His quest is to find the true and original meanings of five names. Along the way, he overcomes many weaknesses; sometimes the cost is great and fearful.
At the end of his quest, he meets the one called Enslaver. But, is this the being’s true name, or is Enslaver one of the changed names?
Inkie’s journey is our journey.

The Five Names The Restoration Chronicles Book 1 eBook Robert Hansen Micah Hansen Jessie Erickson

Inkie has a comfortable life for a Loman until he becomes curious about the fence that surrounds his land. Such inquisitiveness is forbidden. He attempts to put the questions out of his mind because he is afraid of both his own thoughts and the punishment they might entail. However, despite his efforts to conform his curiosity soon leads him on an incredible journey of discovery.

The Five Names drew me in from the Author's Confession, at the very start, through to the last page. Bob Hansen's Christian faith is reflected throughout his book. Like The Hobbit, a similar story in several ways, this tale works on several levels. Children will enjoy the fantasy adventure as Inkie travels to distant lands and discovers strange new creatures. Adults will enjoy the allegorical elements of the story along with Inkie's inner journey as he grows from quivering Loman to a still frightened seeker determined to complete the task before him. The story is told with humor that all ages can enjoy.

For full disclosure, I should mention that Bob is a friend and I have read critiqued forthcoming parts of the Restoration Chronicles, but not this book. However, when he announced the publication of this first story I eagerly bought and read the novel. I would not have reviewed the story if I had not enjoyed it. I recommend it and look forward to future stories in the Restoration Chronicles.

The Five Names The Restoration Chronicles Book 1 eBook Robert Hansen Micah Hansen Jessie Erickson Reviews

Quite honestly, this is the first allegory I have ever read. It wooed me along on a spiritual journey that ministered to my soul and made me smile. I think most readers could see some of themselves in Inkie's adventures. I can't wait to read more of the Restoration Chronicles. Thank you Bob for your wonderful book~!
Saunter into the world of Inkie and partake of the author's masterful creation of the Loman with his curious physical anomalies, original food preferences, and the simplest lifestyle and vocation. Robert's imagination pulled me along the journey with Inkie as tension mounted with every Principower encounter and restriction. Inkie's freedoms accumulated as he discovered the truth of each name, as did my delight in the value of this sweetly-told allegory. This story is not only for children, but for every member of the family. My curiosity is ready for the next adventure.
This is a very captivating and intriguing story. The characters are complex and full of depth. The story is fascinating. A great read. Just when you think you know what is going to happen, it surprises you. Full of love and grace. Thank you!
Before I started to read "The Five Names" I thought it was probably geared towards a younger audience, but I soon realized the book was written for both young and old. I could not help but like the humble main character Inkie of Idmar. Inkie lives in a village where things rarely change and he likes it that way. But soon curiosity leads him on a fearful path. Even though he is afraid of what may lay ahead, he bravely continues to travel the road he has been shown. The ending sets the story up for a sequel which I'm told is nearly ready for release.
This Pilgrim's-Progress-style tale is a delight from beginning to end for those of any age. I loved the endearing childlike language of made-up-words that so suited the humble Lomans, such as "possiblenesses" instead of possibilities. Anyone who has read The Pilgrim's Progress could see the inspirational storyline coming as it began to unfold. Christians will be blessed to read this as a family. I anxiously await the publication of the next part of the tale as Inky continues his journey.
(Don't worry, there are no spoilers here. ;) ) The Five Names was the very first book I purchased for my new Fire. I had a feeling I wouldn't be disappointed, and boy, was I ever correct. I fell in love with little Inkie from the very first page, and I felt so connected with him through all of his trials, his hardships, and his triumphs. Inkie's journey truly is our journey, as Mr. Hansen states. I surprised myself when I found that when Inkie was faced with difficult but necessary decisions to make, I felt the very same fear and anxiousness in my heart as Inkie felt... And because of that, I know that I must discipline myself more in order to be brave like Inkie. I will definitely read this fabulous book time and time again, which is a rare thing for me to do with most books. I highly recommend this great work. Packed with thrills, action, joyfulness, and serious considerations on who we truly are and who we are meant to be, The Five Names is sure to encourage and uplift those of us who need a little reminder that we are not alone.
The Restoration Chronicles The Five Names, is a delightful tale. And it's all because of its main character, a Loman named Inkie. He has a heart of pure gold and that heart shows through in everything he does from making the frightening decision to find out what is on the other side of the fence (an absolutely forbidden act in Lomen land), to his genuine heart for people and his brave willingness to explore and know things other than his own comfortable world. If you want to fall in love with a great hero, read this book.
